Treasure Island

Robert Louis Stevenson's most famous novel and an enduringly popular romance, Treasure Island was published in 1883, although it had appeared initially in Young Folks in serial form July 1881-June 1882. It's an exciting tale about the dangerous adventures of young Jim Hawkins as he searches for the buried treasure of the evil Captain Flint.

While the cover illustrations of Treasure Island may not be historically accurate, they do provide an interesting glimpse into the colourful and deadly world of the pirate.

You can read the entire book online, or download the tale of Billy Bones, Captain Smollett, Squire Trelawney, Ben Gun, Blind Pew, Doctor Livesey, and Long John Silver.
