Sailing Rules

The Captain of a ship is responsible for the safety of the passengers and crew and the safe operation of the ship. The Captain is the ultimate authority, His word is the law and his decisions are final.

While onboard La Beale Isoud or Tillikum, transitting in one of the ship's boats, or ashore on a pirate raid you are required to obey the instructions of the Captains and designated crew members.

General Safety Guidelines

While maneuvering ( i.e., docking, approaching, or departing a dock or anchorage) passengers are to stay well clear of all running rigging and ropes, and remain aft of the cockpit or below decks.

While under sail, passengers are to stay well clear of all running rigging and exercise due caution when in the vicinity of the sails. The ship's sails are powerful objects and may move without warning.

From time-to-time, the Captain may order that passengers move to specific areas of the ship and/or stay clear of specific areas to allow for safe operation of the ship and for navigational purposes.

Passengers are NOT to adjust or tamper with any running or standing rigging, ship's controls, or fixtures without the express direction of the Captain or his designated crew.

Passengers are not to sit, stand, or lean against the guard rails.

Horseplay on the upper decks is strictly prohibited unless authorized by the Captain.

Smoking

Smoking is only permitted in designated areas on the upper deck, and at the discretion of the Captain. Smokers are to stay well clear of the sails and dispose of all cigarettes in an environmentally friendly manner.

Cigarettes are NOT to be extinguished on any part of La Beale Isoud, Tillikum, or any of the ship's boats.

Environmental Safety

Passengers are reminded that the motion of any ship can be quite unexpected and abrupt, especially when the ship is passing through ferry wakes. Please move with caution while onboard.

Boarding vessels is inherantly dangerous. Listen to and obey the directions of the crew, do not argue, and grin if you get a bit wet. When entering or leaving one of the ship's boats, you may, at the sole discretion of the crew, be required to remove your footwear.

While you may float, your belongings won't. Salt water does not mix well with food or electronics - package both accordingly.

Ultraviolet radiation is reflected by the water, resulting in a much faster burn time than on land. The use of sunscreen and the wearing of sun hats and sunglasses is recommended.
