Flotsam & Jetsam

FLOTSAM AND JETSAM

It is your responsibilty to ensure that your luggage is in the right place at the right time.

Luggage

The capacity of the jollyboat to carry luggage is restricted, so all pirates are requested to send gear (tightly packed bedding, a reasonable amount of luggage and play gear) on ahead with the advance party. Pirates lodged at the Inn will not need bedding or towels. All luggage and bedding must be clearly labeled with your name and phone number, and securely fastened to prevent it from exploding like a cheap four-pounder cannon. The capacity to ship luggage is limited; please use common sense and consideration.

Fragile items and electronics should be placed in a waterproof container or wrapped in plastic, and placed in the center of your luggage surrounded by soft items. Cell phones seem to work just fine on Gabriola Island. There is also a land-line phone available on the premises.

Luggage drop-off

Luggage must be dropped off at the August 9 Sagacity meeting at Westbay Rendezvous or at the quarters of First Mate Fish on August 10 between the hours of 1:00-8:00 PM.

Luggage that is returned to Victoria can be picked up on the Tuesday night Sagacity meeting following the adventure, or the quarters of First Mate Fish on August 17. Items will not be available for pick-up before those times so please keep any gear you might need before then with you.

At the Gabriola ferry landing, there is a 150-metre walk from the ferry to the jolly boat. The jolly boat will load/unload passengers and luggage at the BC Ferries parking lot. There is no porter service for luggage.

On the Nanaimo side of the Gabriola ferry there is a 10-15 minute walk from the various long-term parking lots. There is no porter service for luggage or transfer service to/from the parking lot.

It is your responsibilty to ensure that your luggage is in the right place at the right time.

Your kit bag - what to bring:

Please bring toothpaste, toothbrush, towels, soap, shampoo, and other toiletries. Campers will also need to bring pillows, sleeping bags or blankets and flashlights! Remember to bring enough clothing for the weekend, as laundry facilities are not available at Pirate's Lair.

Foam to sleep on in the tent would be a wise item to pack. Unless, of course, you are a serious masochist. Comfortable sleeping cots are included for all our cabin seadogs!

While at Pirate's Lair, styrofoam and plastic cups are provided. If you prefer to drink from a proper cup or mug, please bring your own and be prepared to wash it yourself or have your slave wash it for you.

If you wish to indulge, please bring your own grog. There is a BC Liquor Store on Gabriola. It is a 30-minute walk/10-minute drive from the Lair and transportation is not provided.

Don't forget to bring any implements of torture you might want to play with, but remember, space is limited so please try to pack as lightly and as compactly as possible. The transportation of large or bulky toys such as spanking benches is not included in the luggage service.
