Fakir Musafar is widely recognized as the father of the Modern Primitives (a term he coined) and has brought body piercing and body modification ritual to popularity in North America. Join him as he looks back on his life and journeys, beginning with a showing of his film "Dances; Sacred and Profane". There will also be time for questions from the audience. After the presentation, Fakir will be signing copies of his book, video and poster, which will be available for purchase at the venue.

"Spirit + Flesh" Hook Energy Pull Ritual

A maximum of 35 tickets (35 ritual participants with their 35 assistants) will be sold. There will be assistants made available for those attending alone. Please email us if you will be attending, but do not have an assistant.

Spirit + Flesh is a ritual seated in the history of body modification, pulling elements from various piercing rituals from around the world such as Chidi Mari, Thaipusam, and the Sun Dance. It is a flesh hook energy pull, where participants will be pierced in a ritual setting with two small hooks attached to a rope. The rope is then attached to an immovable object or another person and the participant pulls from the piercing, feeling the energy of everything around them, set to live drummers.

A truly once in a lifetime experience, this is the first time that Fakir Musafar and Cleo Dubois have brought this ritual to Vancouver.

Registrants for the ritual (but not assistants) will attend an orientation session with Fakir and Cleo in a private home on Friday evening. Then on Saturday registrants and their assistants will join Fakir in Abbotsford for the ritual. Directions will be given only to those involved in the event for reasons of privacy.

Ritual registrants will be able to attend Thursday’s The Life and Times of Fakir Musafar presentation for $10 each, rather than the regular price of $25 if they wish.
