BDSM 101
Have you ever been curious about what goes on at a play party? Does the term play party confuse you? Are you not sure what to expect when you arrive to your first BDSM event? Are you not sure what kind of questions to ask or who to ask them of?
Then BDSM 101 is the right place for you! Polar invites you to come on in and bring any questions you may have so we can explore these questions and more together. Light will be shed on topics such as Play Party Rules, lifestyle etiquette, and any other questions that may be on your mind! For those of you who may just a little too self-conscious to ask questions in front of a large group of people not to worry it can be tough. You are encouraged to email Polar directly with your questions from now until November 9. Questions will be read anonymously and open discussion is encouraged.

Whips & Tips
Brad the Braider provides a great introduction to those seeking to explore play with single tail whips. His workshop will show techniques, practice skills, and applications of single tails.
Brad will discuss different whips, what to look for in a whip so that you can find one that is right for you, and how to care for your whip so that you’ll be able to enjoy it for years. All this without allaying the romance that is associated with the single tail in BDSM play.

Dark Secrets: Playing With Fear
Nancee presents a workshop on using fear as a tool in your play scene...how to use it, play with it, mindfuck with it. In this workshop, there will be a fear-scene demo, and attendees are warned in advance that a certain level of discomfort may be experienced. Be prepared to be uncomfortable.
Afterward, there will be tips and discussion on fear, why it works, why it sometimes doesn’t, and Nancee will share a key secret to making your fear scene work. If time allows, there will be an open discussion session with all the attendees offering everyone the opportunity to share stories about fear scenes they’ve done and why they have or haven’t worked.

Scarification
Elwood presents a comprehensive look at scarication. Scarification is the art of creating designs in the body through the use of scar tissue. It sounds painful, but if it is done properly, the sensation can be incredible, and the finished product a work of art.
Scarification is most commonly done by two different methods, branding or cutting. Cutting and scarification have been around for centuries and can serve as an emblem of the strength, fortitude, and courage of both men and women.
Don’t miss this in-depth workshop covering the physical and psychologic aspects of a practice that goes back for hundreds of years as taught by one of North America’s premier body modification educators.

Fantasy vs. Reality: Why The Script Is Bound To Fail
Mistress Marlene will be conducting a seminar on delving deeply and honestly into the preconceived scripts that come through years of fantasy while searching for a partner in the BDSM or D/s community. She will explain how these scripts can lead to failure in communication and eventually erode even the best-laid foundations in a committed relationship.
Look within through her guidance to better understand where fantasy is unrealistic in its entirety, yet its foundation can lead to incredible scenarios when information is shared openly and not left to the mind-reading of the partner. Enjoy an interactive conversation with Q&A; throughout her presentation where your expertise or confusion will advance the learning of all.

Just Hangin' Around
Fisherman and Ladyfish offer up an informally informative and irreverantly fun interactive workshop on rope bondage suspension. Participation is encouraged but not required. Folks interested in participating will need to bring the following items:
two 50-70' lengths of 1/4" braided nylon rope
six 25' lengths of 1/4" braided nylon rope
(please have these lengths pre-cut and remember to tape your ends before cutting them; Canadian Tire is the easiest place to purchase your rope; braided nylon rope will run you around $.20/foot).
Remember to have your bottom dress in suitable attire for rope work. Loose, baggy garments can get in the way of ropes and tight, constricting clothing is totally unsuitable. Body suits, leotards, panties are all excellent choices...nudity is fun too!
Join Fisherman and Ladyfish as they share the do's and don'ts of hanging around in ways that were created for "real" kinksters with "real" body shapes and physical limitations. This class is limited to 10 pairs (oranges, apples, bananas, etc.). A basic understanding of rope and knots is required.

Single Tails In The Dungeon: Advanced
This workshop presented by Jonn Ireland of Seattle includes techniques for using a 4' (7' overall) bullwhip for wraps and hard strikes to add spice to your scene, several different ways to throw a signal whip, advanced areas to strike the body, positions to use in a scene when you don’t have a rack or a cross, techniques for limited space (like a bedroom), bondage and whips, using 2 whips, one in each hand for specific techniques including 9 and 3, cross cracking forehand and backhand, Florentine, and others.
"Whip Technique" is one thing, "Scene Set-Up and Development" is quite another and both aspects are important for an enjoyable and even profound experience. To this end, specific information will be provided on how to set up a good "beginning, middle, and end" for any whip scene and also techniques to help you read a bottom. Participants with whips should bring them and a few additional whips will be available from Jonn's personal collection for use by the participants.
Whip techniques can vary from light wraps, brushing skin with the whip tips, to cracks off and then on the skin, each one producing different effects on the bottom and being used in different places as the scene progresses. The scene can vary in intensity from gentle stroking to fiery rain and onto painful, red welted stripes, depending on the intent and skill of the Top and the interests and limits of the bottom. Every scene can have an intensity rating of 10 whether the whip is used for gentle brushing or as a hard crack cutting the skin. A deeply powerful connection between the Top and bottom can occur at every level. Each technique will be demonstrated on Ariaal, Jonn's submissive, so that everyone can see how particular skills are applied in a scene and used directly on the body.

Hey Mister, Got A Light?
Don of the Edmonton O Society presents an interactive workshop on fire play. Fire play is one form of play that is termed edge play. It is also an advanced form of play. The term advanced is used here not necessarily to imply that one has to be in the lifestyle for a long time before attempting to do fire play, but rather that one should be mentored by one who is an experienced fire player instead of reading about it and trying learn it on one's own. Fire play is also a sensual play, meaning that it is more orientated toward sensual pleasure rather than toward pain.
Fire play is the only BDSM play form where there are always three living entities involved. Fire, if left uncontrolled, can and will take on a life of its own so it should always be considered a living entity. The other two entities are the Dominant and the submissive. The Dominant fire player needs the ability to control all three at the same time to make a great and safe scene.
Although fire play is an intense experience for both the submissive and the Dominant it is not pain-oriented. Caution is warranted for those who want to learn or experience fire play as a means of getting new pain sensations that the risk of great bodily harm is too great to try it with that mind set. If you can't control the urge to either inflict pain or receive pain then perhaps fire play is something that you shouldn't try.
This is a hand's on workshop where you will make and learn to use fire wands.
