Setting Up sagacitygroup.net Email in Yahoo

How to set up an "account" in Yahoo mail to enable you to send email using the sagacitygroup.net address, so the world sees you as belonging to Sagacity (body and soul, that is - didn't you read the fine print?) Easy as pie!!! Katxo

Adding Another Mail Account to Yahoo! Mail

The first step in sending and retrieving messages from an external email account is to add the account information to Yahoo! Mail.

If you plan to have Yahoo! Mail retrieve email from your other account, you’ll need to know the POP mail server for that account. This is the remote server where your account information and messages are stored. You’ll also need the mail server port number if the number is something other than 110. Unless the account is a Yahoo! account, Yahoo! Mail Customer Care won’t be able to provide you with this information. Contact your Internet service provider or network administrator if you need assistance.

Tip: You can’t use Yahoo! Mail to receive messages from a Web-based email account that hasn’t been set up for POP access.

Here’s How

To start adding an account:

  1. Sign in to the Yahoo! Mail account into which you want to access the external account.

  2. In the upper-right corner of the your Mail page, click the Options link, then select Mail Options from the menu.

    The Mail Options page opens.

  3. Click the Accounts link on the left.

The Accounts page appears, displaying information about your Yahoo! Mail account(s).

  4. Click the Add Account button to begin adding one of your other mail accounts to Yahoo! Mail.

A page opens where you can enter information about the external account.

To set up the account to send email from Yahoo! Mail:

  1. In the Sending Mail section of the page, enter a name for the new account (for example, Work or School).

  2. Next enter a "From" name and the email address of the non-Yahoo! email account.

  3. When someone replies to a message that you send from the non-Yahoo! account, the reply automatically goes back to the email address associated with the account. If you want, you can specify a different default reply-to address, such as your Yahoo! Mail address, for responses to be sent to.

    • Click the Change reply-to address link next to the Email address.

      A Reply-to address box opens

    • Enter the reply-to address you want to use instead of the account’s email address.

  4. If you plan to use Yahoo! Mail only to send messages from this account (not to retrieve messages as well), you’re done. Click the Save Changes button to finish adding the new account.

The Verify Email Address window opens. You must verify that you are the owner of the non-Yahoo! account before you can send email from it.

To verify that you own the external mail account:

The final step in setting up an external account for use in Yahoo! Mail is to verify that you are, in fact, the account’s owner.

    1. In the Verify Email Address window, Step 1, click the blue Send Code link.

Yahoo! Mail sends a message containing the verification code to the email address shown in the window (that is, the address associated with the non-Yahoo! account).

    2. To complete the verification process immediately:

      • Go to your non-Yahoo! email account and look for a message from Yahoo! Member Services.

      • Note the confirmation code in the message.

      • Enter the confirmation code in the box in Step 3 of the Verify Email Address window, then click the Done button.

Yahoo! Mail confirms that you’ve successfully verified the account.

Tip: You can also follow the instructions in the email message to complete the process.

    3. If you prefer to complete the verification process at a later time:

      • Click the Verify Later button.

Yahoo! Mail confirms that your new account has been saved, but still needs to be verified.

The account appears in the list of accounts as "Verification pending" until you complete the verification process.

      • At a convenient time, check your external mail for a message from Yahoo! Member Services.

      • Follow the instructions in the email message to complete the verification process.

Sending Mail Using Another Email Address

When you added an external account to Yahoo! Mail, you provided a name and the account’s email address. This makes it possible to send messages using that address while working in Yahoo! Mail. While composing a message, all you have to do is select the name and email address for the From box. If you reply to messages that Yahoo! Mail retrieves from this account, Mail automatically displays the account’s address in the From box.

Tip: You can set up Yahoo! Mail to send messages from any other email account, but to have Yahoo! Mail retrieve messages from that account, the account must be set up for POP3 access.

Here’s How

  1. Follow the procedure for adding a non-Yahoo! email address for sending email. (Remind me how.)

  2. Be sure that you’ve verified that you own the non-Yahoo! mail account. (Remind me how.)

Once you have verified the account, its address is added to the From pull-down menu on the Yahoo! Mail Compose page.

  3. To send a message from an external address, do the following:

    • Click the New button.

    • In the Compose page, select the email address from the pull-down list for the From box.
